How to update logger software?

The following article explains how you can update the loggers software when this is requested by the SCADAR.net webserver.

Warning
If you have an active audit running and you would like to update you're loggers, be advised that you should always finish the Audit.
In other words, make sure that the measured data from the loggers are pushed to the BaseStation/Cloud.

Before updating the loggers, check whether the data from the Audit was sent correctly to the Cloud. (Sync the audit and look at the data in the Graph Wizard)
If the loggers are updated and afterwards you would see that the data wasn't sent to the Cloud correctly, there is no way of retrieving the data and you would risk to lose the whole audit.

There are two steps in updating logger software;
  1. ‘Download logger update’ = Download the most current logger software to the BS from the Internet
  2. 'Update logger’ = Transferring the downloaded software from the BS to logger(s) via Bluetooth

First of all, connect your BaseStation to the Internet. After that, power up the BaseStation.

Info
It is recommended that the BaseStation stays connected to the internet for the whole duration of the update process.

On your BaseStation display, go to Settings, press Enter, go to ‘Download logger update’, then press Enter.

The BaseStation will tell you what logger software version you currently have and what logger software version is available on our server.

For example, the picture below shows the BaseStation has logger software version 3.0 and the available version on the server is 4.0.

Press Enter to download the newest software to the BaseStation.

After the download is completed, go to ‘Update logger’ in the same menu. Press Enter.

Press the Bluetooth button of the logger(s) (left button on the logger) to update the software inside of the logger(s).

A window appears on your BaseStation asking if you want to update the logger. Press Enter to update.

For example, the picture below shows a kW logger with serial number 190. It currently has software 3.0. Available logger software in the BS is 3.5. Press Enter to update the kW logger to the latest software version.

You will see the blue LED blinking fast. After the logger is updated, the blue LED will stop blinking.

Alert
It is necessary that after every logger has been updated , that you perform a Cloud to Base step on the BaseStation.
This step will force the BaseStation to connect with the server and update the necessary information in the database.
If this step isn't done, SCADAR.net can still show that the logger needs an update, even though it has just been updated.
